All results, statistics & awards are not
final until published in the AMCA Newsletter or as defined in the AMCA Standing
Rules.
The Black Hawk Memorial
Award goes to the Malamute of either sex whose average of the three
qualifying scores is the highest for that year. The Flaming Flirt Memorial
Award goes to the dog of the opposite sex to the Black Hawk Award winner
whose average of the three qualifying scores is the highest for his/her sex. If
a dog were to NQ at a trial between the first and second qualifying leg or
between the second and third qualifying leg, the average of the three qualifying
scores would not be affected. The owner/handler must have been a member of AMCA
at the time of earning the third leg.
The Oonanik Memorial
Award goes to that dog earning any of the advanced titles with the highest
average of the three qualifying scores. Should a dog be awarded an UDX, the
average of the ten combined qualifying scores would be considered.
The Award of Merit
goes to any dog that has earned a CDX, TDX, UD, UDX, or OTCH. Again, the
owner/handler must have been a member at the time the final qualifying score is
earned.
Eleven Companion Dog titles
(CD) were earned last year by Malamutes: six bitches and five dogs. Four of
them (three bitches and one dog) were partnered by AMCA members. Three CDX
titles (two bitches and one dog) and one UDX title (dog) were earned in 2005,
but I received no information from their partners. Therefore, no Oonanik
Memorial Award can be presented, but Awards of Merit will be given.

Before leaving Obedience, we
need to note the outstanding accomplishments by Malamutes in the new performance
sport of Rally. There were thirty-three Rally Novice (RN) titles earned by
Malamutes: fourteen dogs and nineteen bitches. Eighteen of those Mals were
partnered by members. In addition, one dog with a member and one bitch went on
to earn RA’s (Rally Advanced). Finally, there was one member and a dog who
earned a Tracking Dog title (TD).
In 2005, there were
nineteen titles in Agility earned by fifteen different Malamutes (ten bitches
and five dogs). They ranged from the entry level Novice Agility (NA) to Master
Agility Excellent. Eight of our members partnered their Mals (four bitches and
four dogs) in the ring. Awards of Merit are presented to those earning advanced
titles, viz., at the Open, Excellent, and Master levels, and I am pleased to
list them below.

These are incredibly
talented Malamutes with dedicated handlers who have spent endless hours in
training to reach these goals and fulfill their dreams. Do, please,
congratulate them for a job well done!
Please remember that to be eligible for any year-end Club awards you must send
to me the dates and shows at which you and your partner earned qualifying scores.
The above sentence appears
at the top of this column just about every other month. Therefore, if you and
your dog have not been considered for Club awards, it is because you did not
send me the necessary information. Additionally, you (and in some cases, your
breeder) did not respond to my “reminder” emails or phone calls. |
