Dear AMCA Members and Malamute Fanciers,

In 2002 AMCA brought you the 50th National Specialty Show. In 2003 we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America, Inc. Both are very important milestones in the history of our Breed.

The theme for the 2003 National Specialty will be "CELEBRATING 50 YEARS". The history of the Alaskan Malamute and the AMCA will be ALL AROUND you in printed literature, pictorial displays and IN PERSON! You will have the privilege of meeting and speaking with many of AMCA’s Charter Members. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain a unique perspective on where we’ve been and where we’re going by speaking with the touchstones of our Breed.

We have an absolutely terrific show site in a lovely New England setting. The site is partially surrounded by a beautiful lake, and very close to Sturbridge Village; a major New England tourist attraction. The sky lit arena and all of the meeting rooms are in close proximity to each other. We’ll have daily AM hospitality. A self serve food  concession will be set up each day just steps away from "the action", so you’ll be able to grab a quick lunch, at a reasonable price, and not miss a thing.

In addition to the Charter Members Events, we will also be presenting a Breeder’s Forum. The purpose of this forum is for Malamute Fanciers of all ages and experience to "pick the brains" of breeders whose breeding programs have spanned the years. This is a perfect opportunity for some of our new members and breeders to actually meet the people who owned the dogs that appear in their pedigrees, and an opportunity to put an unfamiliar faces to the names you recognize. Complete details for this event will be posted to this website as they develop.

Our committees are hard at work to plan this very special event. We have a few exciting projects we are working on to make this a very memorable event. So be sure to watch this website and your AMCA Newsletter for information on these projects.

I hope this introduction letter has whetted your appetite and that you’ll plan on joining us to help celebrate AMCA’s 50th Birthday!

Sincerely,

Joanne Levy
