Futurity (National Only)

Summary and Requirements 

The Futurity is open to Alaskan Malamutes born between May 3, 2004 to May 2, 2005 who have been previously nominated and have remained in the nomination process in accordance with the rules set forth by AMCA.  All entrants in the Futurity must also be entered in one or more of the regular classes at the regular entry fee.  All entries in the Futurity must be made at the same time that the regular class entries are made, and on the regular entry form which should be marked “FUTURITY & AGE DIVISION” in the space provided for “Additional Classes”.  In addition, AMCA’s Futurity/Maturity Entry forms must be completed and submitted to the Futurity Chairperson along with the entry fee which must be received by the show closing date of Wednesday, October 5, 2005.  Futurity entry fee is $17.00, payable to AMCA which must be mailed to the Futurity Chairperson with the Futurity Event Entry Form.

Junior Division                                       Senior Division

6 months & under 9 months                                 12 months & under 15 months

9 months & under 12 months                                15 months & under 18 months

Grand Futurity Winner will be chosen from among the 8 class winners.

Division of Futurity Prize Monies

All fees for the Futurity Stakes will be distributed as follows after AMCA has deducted 20% to defray expenses.  15% of total remaining fees to be awarded as follows:

5% to Breeder of Grand Futurity Winner, 10% to Owner of Grand Futurity Winner

All remaining fees to be distributed and awarded as follows:

a)       Total split 50% to Junior Division, 50% to Senior Division

b)       Within each Division, 50% to Dogs, 50% to Bitches

c)       Within each class: With 4 or more entries: 1^st = 40%, 2^nd = 30%, 3^rd = 20%, 4^th = 10%

In the event a class does not have at least 4 entries, the % will be based as follows:

                With at least 3 entries: 1^st = 30%, 2^nd = 20%, 3^rd = 10%

                With at least 2 entries: 1^st = 20%, 2^nd = 10%

                With at least 1 entry:  1^st = 10%

All fees that have not been distributed in the class competition will be awarded to the Owner of the Grand Futurity Winner.

Futurity Recognition Awards:  If recipient is not present, awards will be mailed.

Maturity (National Only)

Summary & Requirements

The Maturity Stakes is open to all pure-bred Alaskan Malamutes who were properly nominated for the previous year’s Futurity Stakes and who are between the ages of 18 and 30 months of age.  No additional nominations required.  Actual entry into the previous year’s Futurity Stakes competition is not required to be eligible for the Maturity Stakes the following year.  Entry into this competition is completed on the AMCA Futurity/Maturity Entry form by the show closing date of Wednesday, October 5, 2005.  No cash prizes are offered.  Maturity entry fee is $17.00, payable to AMCA which must be mailed to the Futurity Chairperson with the Futurity Entry Event Form.

Maturity Recognition Awards: If recipient is not present, awards will be mailed.
