The Alaskan Malamute Top 20 event is one of the premier events offered each year at the National Specialty. The event owners of the Top 20 dogs in the breed a chance to showcase their dog in front of hundreds of spectators and AKC, Breeder and Professional Handler judges.

During the previous year points are awarded for each dog or bitch defeated by earning best of breed or best of opposite sex awards. These points are tallied and a list of the Top 20 dogs and bitches in the Alaskan Malamute Club of America is formed.

Owners of these dogs receive an invitation to the Top 20 Event at the National Specialty.

The event is comprised of a formal evening including cocktails, dinner and then the showcase!

Each dog is judged by 5 different judges based on a score sheet. At the end of the event the score sheets are gathered and tallied that years Top 20 winner is announced at the annual National Specialty banquet.

Being invited to, participating in and winning the Top 20 event are all high honors in the Alaskan Malamute Club of America.
